Joburg based rock band Voodoo Child used Main Street Life as the location for their latest music video last month. Above, is the video now completed, and its amazing to watch it after having documented some of the behind the scenes action! Some of it snuck into an episode of Russell’s Bedroom (watch the episode)The guys made best use of the rubble, and the fact that the ground floor hadn’t yet been divided up into the separate retail spaces. The master shot used in the video has now been segmented, and development of Malva, and The Bioscope are well underway. The shoot came almost a week after local hip hop act Maraza also used the building for a music video location. So at the time it was great to see the creative diversity and how the building could could be used in so many different ways!

Until the apartment units are built, there’s nothing stopping us from throwing some great parties in all the big open spaces. This particular one took place on the ground floor, in the area that will eventually become shops, restaurants and the independent cinema.

340ml put on a stellar performance and the dub reggae jams filled the Maboneng Precinct till the early hours of the morning!

Until the building is ready in June, expect more of these.
