Every now and again, you meet someone amazing. Someone who, although only having known a short period of time, feels like a life long friend. Eric, has that charm. It feels like he’ been with us for years, watching us grow up, and being there to see the building develop into something truly great.
Eric came at a time when much explaining needed to be done. People are still learning what is where, and what is what. He’s there with a smile, and he’s there with a wisdom and dignity I discover everyday. Shake his hand, talk to him, listen to him talk.
I wrote about this video months ago, and now its finally here. This is video for Maraza and Bobzin Dash feat Kay Soul that was shot right here in Main Street Life, back in the day when it was still a complete construction site, sans yours truly. The track One Foot in The game was rising the YFM charts last time I checked in with the guys, and looking back on the video now, Im glad we could provide what one could argue to be most killer city backdrop in town!!
Before the Sun Sets is one of the first online TV shows to have been made in Main Street Life, and thus making it one of the first TV shows to have been broadcast right here on mainstreetlife.tv the series sees artists come up to the roof of Main Street Life, and perform one song live, as the sun sets over the city behind them. This is the second video made, making the concept officially a “series”
This is one of the first appearances of The Frown, a group only recently formed here in South Africa, and something you should be paying alot of attention to.
This is the first episode of Lauren’s Bedroom, and the first from what is now the unique ‘Bedroom Series’ of Main Street Life .TV
What started with just Russells Bedroom, is now quickly expanding as more people now live inside Main Street Life.
Lauren Wallet is the creator of the soon to be revealed concept store Malva, a unique showcase of creative talent opening its doors on the ground floor of the building in June. She’s also been picked to be one of the designers of the building’s boutique hotel the 12 Decades on the top floor.
Joburg based rock band Voodoo Child used Main Street Life as the location for their latest music video last month. Above, is the video now completed, and its amazing to watch it after having documented some of the behind the scenes action! Some of it snuck into an episode of Russell’s Bedroom (watch the episode)The guys made best use of the rubble, and the fact that the ground floor hadn’t yet been divided up into the separate retail spaces. The master shot used in the video has now been segmented, and development of Malva, and The Bioscope are well underway. The shoot came almost a week after local hip hop act Maraza also used the building for a music video location. So at the time it was great to see the creative diversity and how the building could could be used in so many different ways!
